A trial can be free during its introductory period and still create a later commitment. A useful personal note records when you need to decide, not only when a charge might appear.
Read the actual offer for the trial period, renewal terms, cancellation route and any stated deadline. Keep a copy or reference to the terms you accepted without recording passwords or complete payment details in a casual notebook.
Set your own review date early enough to use the service and understand whether it meets the intended need. The required cancellation timing comes from the agreement and applicable rules, not from a universal number of days.
For the review, ask one concrete question: did you use the feature that justified signing up? A long list of features you might someday use can obscure an ordinary decision about present value.
If cancelling, follow the provider’s process and retain the confirmation where available. Check subsequent billing against the agreement; a reminder marked complete is not itself evidence that cancellation succeeded.
This is a record-keeping exercise rather than legal advice about subscription rights. For a dispute, consult current official consumer guidance in the relevant jurisdiction. A good note keeps intention, submitted cancellation and confirmed outcome in separate places.
